History

The Richard Nixon Presidential Library and Museum was established on July 11th, 2007. It sits on a nine-acre plot in Yorba Linda where President Nixon was born and later buried. Yorba Linda is a city in Orange County, California and is 40 miles southeast of Los Angeles. Between the years of 1984 and 1990, The Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace Foundation raised $26 million in funds to help develop the land. The library was originally to be located in San Clemente, California, Nixon’s first post-presidency home, but was later changed to his birthplace, Yorba Linda, California. The library is compiled with records from the National Archives and Records Administration, and the Richard Nixon Library and Birthplace Foundation, a private library. The library will hold all of the records, artifacts and other materials, as well as taped White House conversations, from Richard Nixon’s presidency, all accessible from one place.
