Fred Oscar Sohm was born October 15, 1894 at South River, the son of John Herman Sohm and Louisa Antonia Augusta Detta.
At the time of the 1901 and 1911 censuses, the family was identified as living in Lount Township.
At the time of enlistment, Fred identified his next of kin as his father John Sohm of R.R.1 South River.
Fred’s medical examination occurred November 12, 1917, but his actual enlistment is identified as June 14, 1918 at Niagara on the Lake.
Fred was determined to be medically unfit for service and therefore did not see action.
At the time of the 1921 census, Fred was listed as living with his parents and siblings in Machar Twp.
Fred married Lydia Shaffrick. They had 5 children.
Frederick Oscar Sohm died May 29, 1972 at Magnetawan.
His Service Form shows that Fred enlisted with the 2nd Depot, 2nd C.O.R.
Fred was determined to be medically unfit to serve.
