SANDS, ERNEST

William ‘Ernest’ Sands was born May 25, 1919, the son of Oliver and Josephine (Vankoughnett) Sands.

Ernest Sands, was identified as being in Royal Canadian Artillery as a Gunner.
 

William Ernest (Ernie) Sands volunteered July 23rd, 1940 at Dundas, ON as Gunner.  He served in Canada (Petawawa, ON).  Ernie was discharged January 8, 1942 on medical grounds. 

Natalie (Sands) Gould notes that although nothing was provided in the information from the Library and Archives Canada, we were told when going for a swim after a hot day of training, he dove into the water and hit his head on the rocks, requiring urgent medical attention.  Afterwards he was released on medical grounds.
