HICKS, PTE. CLIFFORD MALLORY Reg. # 657185

Clifford Mallory hicks was born February 5, 1895 (also given as 1896) in Chapman Township, the son of Thomas Wilson Hicks and Henrietta Effie Potter. At the time of the 1901 census, the family was identified as living in Chapman Township. At the time of the 1911 census the family was specifically identified as livjng on Lot 25, Con. 7, Chapman. Fifteen year old Clifford was identified as a farmer.

Clifford’s Attestation papers were signed September 13, 1915 in Parry Sound.

Clifford embarked for England on November 1, 1916, arriving in Liverpool on November 11, 1916.

He transferred to the 4th Reserve Battalion, to the 35th Battalion and finally to the 75th Battalion inn France in February of 1917.

Clifford joined his Unit on March 17, 1917. He was killed in action on April 9, 1917.

April 9, 1917 the day on which Clinton Hicks was killed was the 1st day of the major assault on Vimy Ridge.
