Dr. George C. Matson was born in Strang, Nebraska in 1873. He worked for the Mexican Gulf Oil Company, the Gulf Refining Company of Louisiana, the Gypsy Oil Company, the South American Gulf Oil Company, and the Schermerhorn Oil Company. He was a member of the Geological Society of America and president of the American Association of Petroleum Geologists in 1921. He died in Tulsa in 1940.
