Penny Framstad's, "Penny's Pop Academy," was first launched in Los Angeles, CA in 2003. Having had a successful singing and recording career herself, Framstad began teaching songwriting, along with piano and guitar, in Sherman Oaks, CA as well as teaching students internationally and quickly reached critical acclaim. She now teaches out of her studio in Aptos, CA.
Her simple, easy to grasp, teaching techniques in songwriting, stage performance, piano, and guitar, helped launch many singer's music careers to stardom.
She began a very successful showcase series, "Penny Framstad Presents," at The Room 5 Lounge in Hollywood, CA where students learned about stage presence, performing with a live band, singing while playing an instrument, keeping an audience entertained, and overcoming stage fright. These showcases were videod where each artist could view their strengths and weaknesses to develop a stage presence worthy of a record label showcase.
Penny has co-written songs with Academy Award, Grammy Award, and CMA Award winning songwriters who have a played a major role in developing her artistry and songwriting to what it is today.
Penny's songs have been featured in such hit films as White Chicks, and 10 Things I Hate About You (and on the soundtrack that has sold over 500,000 copies) as well as hit TV shows Dance Mom's, Summerland, Everwood, Las Vegas, Dawson’s Creek, Providence, Jag, Roswell, The Real World, Law & Order, and more.
