The Opers Fall Festival is an annual event held just before school starts where many student and campus organizations all come together on the East Field. There is usually food provided by dining services for freshmen and a stage where any group may demonstrate. Usually this is the biggest event held at UCSC, drawing hundreds if not thousands of students and organizers.
Student groups must reserve a table well in advance if they would like one provided for them, but if they have their own they are welcome to bring it without any reservations. In Fall 2008, the dining halls closed and only served food at the festival so freshman had little choice but to go.
