Summary Marina Sousa is a local cakemaker who has gained national attention by winning multiple first places in the Food Network's cake making challenges on television, where contestants compete to design elaborate specialty cakes. She is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America in Napa Valley. Her cakes have been featured in the magazines InStyle, Bride, Modern Bride, Weddings of Distinction, Grace Ormonde Wedding Style, and People, and she has appeared on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
She owns and operates the local cake business Just Cake, and in 2010 she received a Nextie award from Santa Cruz Next for her service to the community.
