• Né le 11 juin 1864 à Merrickville (Ontario), il sera d’abord professeur au Ottawa Business College et comptable dans la même province. À Rock Island, il entre à l’emploi de Jondro & Goodhue comme comptable et agent sur la route pour près de 12 ans. En 1898, il crée avec T. O. Chapman la « Dominion Specialty Company » qui change rapidement de nom pour la « Telford & Chapman Manufacturing Company ».
• « The Telford and Chapman Manufacturing Company » est une des plus récentes fabriques, fondée en 1898. Réputé pour son « Stay on Blanket » et ses différents produits pour les chevaux
