Juan Bautista Alvarado (14 Feb 1809–13 Jul 1882) served as governor of Alta California in 1836–7, and again in 1838–42.

His wife was Martina Castro de Alvarado.

The Alvarados are buried in Saint Mary's Cemetery, along with four family members. The grave was unmarked until October, 2013, when a marker was erected by The San Pablo Historical and Museum Society, Saint Mary's Cemetery, and other groups.
