2. Frightful Family Fun - Halloween at the Y

4. Oakland Color Haunt

Oakland Color Haunt is a unique paint race that celebrates Halloween & Health. Oakland Color Haunt is a three-mile, timed race where participants are targeted by Ghouls, Ghosts & Goblins who douse them in color at any stage. Haunt participants enter the maze, identify & blast their ghoulish targets with color. Armed with colors traveling at top speed the race is more about having the time of your life, than exercise.

5. Bocanova's First Annual Costume Party

6. 27th Annual Halloween Celebration

The Piedmont Avenue Merchant Association has a day packed with fun activities including free cartoons at the Piedmont Cinema, a costume parade at 11:00 a.m., trick-or-treating candy stations, music, face painting, haunted houses and much more. 7. Lakeshore Avenue Halloween Parade and Fall Festival

Saturday, October 26, (10:00 a.m.)

Lakeshore Avenue. This annual tradition includes trick-or-treating down Lakeshore Avenue, a festive parade that steps off at 11:30 a.m. and a performance of Thriller by Hipline Studio. 8. Annual Harvest Festival and Silent Auction

9. 2nd Annual Hella-ween 5 Miler 

Saturday, October 26, (4:30 p.m),

Old Oakland, Ninth Street near Washington. The 5-miler is designed to be fun and let people show off their creative side as costumes are encouraged. The out-and-back course is on the streets of Old Oakland, Jack London Square and Uptown. The course will feature two water stops and possibly a “special” stop at Linden St. Brewery. 10. Kids’ Halloween Dance Party

Malonga Casquelourd Center for the Arts, 1428 Alice Street. Dance-A-Vision Entertainment invites children, ages 7 to 11, to a special Halloween Dance Party with storytelling, a costume contest, relay races, photo shoot prizes and more. 12. Boo at the Zoo

Teaming up with the Bay Area Science Festival, the zoo hosts this Halloween and science-themed weekend featuring trick-or-treating for kids, a costume parade, up-close animal encounters, spooking interactive stations and a Wildlife Theater presentation focused on creepy crawly animals. 14. 22nd Annual Children’s Halloween Parade

Rockridge District, College Avenue. Join the costumed procession with trick-or-treating along College Avenue starting at noon from the Presbyterian Church, 5951 College Avenue, to the BART station. 15. Bingo Halloween Potluck

16. 8th Annual Temescal Trick or Treat

Thursday, October 31, (4:00 – 6:00 p.m.), Temescal District, Telegraph Avenue at 51st Street. Kids of all ages and their parents can stroll Telegraph Avenue and trick-or-treat at local merchants. Walk down the halls of this old, creaky house; peek into its rooms and see who pops up to enliven the story of California's past. 19. FM Smith Haunted House 

Thursday, October 31, (7:00 - 9:00 p.m.) FM Smith Recreation Center, 1969 Park Boulevard. Free to all ages, the annual Halloween Night Haunted House event will feature two floors of ghosts, goblins, zombies, werewolves, vampires and skeletons. It is sure to be a frightening night. 20. Spooky Stories for Kids: Sean's Shadow Puppets: Oakland Public Libraries, various dates and branches

Sean Powers is bringing his art of shadow puppetry to Oakland Public Libraries during the week before Halloween. He will perform "Fool Me Once," a scary Chinese tale about deception and its folly. Afterwards

he will spend time showing his puppets and answering questions about how he does his art. Sean will appear at five library locations:

22. Halloween Parade and Trick-or-Treating!, 

Thursday, October 31, (12-8pm,)

Main Library Children's Room, 125 14th Street Come trick-or-treat at the library! Start your visit in the Children's Room that afternoon and walk through the building in your scariest, shiniest and best costumes. Visit different parts of the library, get treats, and learn more about us.  

23. Warehouse416 Halloween Party, 

Saturday, October 26, 7pm, Warehouse416, 416 26th St. (7pm)

Music by fflood Transdud Massiv We will have a full no host bar, the profits of which will benefit the Montclair Lions Charities.  Signature cocktails, Beer, (Linden Common on tap) Wine, and soft drinks by Angela Scrivani. 24. Thornhill Family Harvest Festival,

25. Mad Science, 

Tuesday-Thursday, October 29 & 30, 6-9pm and October 31, 5-8pm, Oakland  School for the Arts' Black Box Theater, 530 19th St. 

Oakland School for the Arts present "Mad Science", the spookiest underground science lab, gone really wrong. Come and see if you can handle the tension, conquer your fear, and brave the mutants.  Due to content, no children under the age of 10 admitted without parent guidance. 26. Montclair Annual Halloween Parade, 

Thursday, October 31, 3pm, meet in front of Bank Of America. 

The Montclair Lions Club and the Montclair Village Association invite you to show off your costumes in the annual parade through the Village.  Visit with Montclair Pet Mayor, Stomper, hosted by Montclair Veterinary Hospital, and see fabulous costumes worn by children of all ages. The parade concludes with trick-or-treating in Montclair Park.
