A new community center, called OASIS Community Center, opened last June in Bethlehem, PA. OASIS Community Center is an organization dedicated to support families impacted by substance abuse. The founder of OASIS, Rhonda Miller, was inspired to create a welcoming and supportive place for struggling families. This came after her son, Ben, died due to overdosing on opioids nearly 3 years prior. The PA Department of Drugs and Alcohol helped fund this organization. Miller decided to pick a 216 year old mansion that needed upgrading and complete furnishing. “I had to develop programs, completely furnish it from head-to-toe and promote it. "It’s been a lot of work, but well-worth it,” she said. #psycho

I chose this article because of its significance to the opioid epidemic, and how families can be impacted and supported after such a tragedy.
