Isla Vista Youth Projects (IVYP) was founded in 1971 to help serve the children and families of Isla Vista.

Mission Statement: "The Isla Vista Youth Projects, Inc. strengthens our community through diverse educational, recreational and social programs for children and families regardless of income."

Their programs include: Children's Center, After School Program, Summer Program, Family Resource Center and THRIVE Isla Vista. Most of the programs are located at or near Isla Vista Elementary School.

Students with Work-Study are able to apply, or volunteer.

Current buildings

The current Children's Center is on Phelps Road just outside of Isla Vista. The Family Resource Center and THRIVE are next to Isla Vista Elementary, and the After School Program is at Isla Vista Elementary.

Former building

From 1971 to 2004, the Children's Center was on Camino Del Sur in the location where Campus 880 is now, behind the former Parking Lot House. It was in a building called the University Church Education Building (rented from the church next door (the United Methodist Church). There's a photo on their Facebook page of the play structure and building. That building may have been empty from 2004 until getting taken down in 2012.
