Ruth James
SARANAC LAKE - Ruth James, 63, of Lake Colby, owner and operator of Prospect Market on Prospect Street since 1941, died Saturday afternoon at her home.
Mrs. James was born in Saranac Lake, the daughter of Percy and Mabel (Newlove) Mullen. She was a lifelong resident of Saranac Lake.
Survivors include her husband, Harry A. James; two sons, Hugh Mullen of Stafford, Va., and Harry James III of Syracuse; a brother, W. Edward Mullen of Liverpool; three stepsons, Harold James of Cincinatti; Ralph James of Wappinger Falls, and Paul James of Saranac Lake; a stepdaughter, Helena White of Broken Arrow, Okla; 13 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Fortune Funeral Home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Eric King, pastor, Officiating.
Interment will be in Pine Ridge Cemetery in May. Mrs. James was a graduate of Saranac Lake High school and the Mildred Elly Business School in Albany.
