Studenterhuset, pronounced "studenterhusen" and translated literally to "the student house", is a cafe and bar meant specifically for students at Copenhagen's many universities. It provides spaces for socializing as well as quite spaces for studying, cheap drinks and snacks (with even further student discounts). The Studenterhuset also hosts events such as concerts, social dances, and game nights on a regular basis. They also as throw special events from time to time, such as a party during the American NFL Superbowl, or the twice annual start of the semester party. Most people who visit Studenterhuset are students at nearby University of Copenhagen (KU) but many others are students at the Danish Institute for Study Abroad (DIS), the Copenhagen Business School (CBS), or simply young people who live in the area.

Posters on the pillars advertise local events; In the background a mural on one pillar encourages visitors to get a membership (students at KU and DIS get their memberships with their student IDs)

Studenterhuset is run entirely by volunteers. Volunteers take on a variety of jobs including bartending/baristaing, running the House's PR and Media platforms, organizing social and academic events, and teaching and DJing at the weekly swing dances. Volunteers are "paid" in drink tokens, so it is always a good idea to get friendly with the volunteers! The cost, central location, and age and lifestyles of its patrons, makes Studenterhuset an extremely popular venue with local students. This allows students to mingle with people who are the same age, but who come from diverse backgrounds from all around the world.
