Biography


Earl was born in Attica and graduated from Attica High School in 1936.

After school Earl worked at the Electro Metallurgical Co. of Union Carbide until May, 1941 when he joined the US Army.

1943 Earl was shipped out the England. After D-Day Earl landed on Omaha and Utah beachheads with the 4th Armored Division. 

Earl fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany and was in Czechoslovakia on VE Day in 1945.

After returning to New York he met and married Marilyn (Clancy) Fuest in Niagara Falls and they settled in Attica where they raised 5 children.

Earl worked 31  years at the Attica Correctional Facility until he retired in 1980.

Earl was an avid sports fan and attended many Buffalo Bills and Buffalo Bisons games. He took up gold in his retirement and achieved a hole-in-one, one of his proudest achievements.

After Marilyn's death in 1981, Earl moved to Florida. There he met his second love, Dolly Barter. Together they spent many happy years travelling splitting their time between Attica and Tavares, Florida.

Earl was a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Attica and the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Mount Dora, Florida. He was also a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
