Biography


Don was born in Buffalo and was also known as MC, Donny, or Grandpa Cookie. As a young boy his family moved to Bennington from Buffalo where he fell in love with farming.  Don would graduate from Attica High School in 1956. On June 11, 1959 he married Darralee "Cookie" (Roberts) McCulloch, a marriage that would last for 61 years.

 

Don helped construct the Niagara Power Plant, worked for Frontier Trucking, service manager at Upstate Chevrolet, and started at the Attica Correctional Facility in 1974 as an autobody vocational instructor for 29 years until he retired in 2003. He would run his own business plowing snow which he did up until a year before his passing. After retiring he was able to realize his passion spending his last 19years driving big truck from BreezyHill Farm.

Don enjoyed riding motorcycle with Cookie where they would travel as far as Alaska and Nova Scotia. From the 1970's to 1983 Don would coach Attica Youth Athletics football. 

Donald died in his sleep at the age of 83 and is buried in Forest Hill Cemetery.
