Alamance County is a county located in North Carolina. The county seat is Graham, and its largest city is Burlington.

Other cities in Alamance County include Mebane, Saxapahaw, Haw River, Elon, Green Level, and Gibsonville.

Alamance County is located slightly north of central North Carolina. It borders with Gilford County, Rockingham County, Caswell County, Orange County, Chatham County, and Randolph County. Alamance County is home to Elon University, one of the nation's highest ranking private universities.

History

Alamance County has a rich history dating as far back as before the American Revolution. The land that makes up Alamance County was first settled as part of Orange County before an eventual split in 1849. The land was rich and the area was the perfect alternative to the high land (Appalachian Mountains) that many other European settlers were moving to.

Many people consider Alamance County the ideal place to live as the distance between Greensboro and Raleigh is equal. Alamance County is also perfectly between the mountains and the coast.
