Mountain Terminology - yes, we have terms we use to describe people and things. Lets create this list. If something needs a lot of explanation, please create a separate page for it. In alphabetical order:
- Beach Traffic / Beach Madness / Beach Season - referring to those times when there is lots of traffic on local roads and highway 17 heading to the beach
- Christmas Tree Madness (or Christmas Tree Season) - referring to those times when there are lots of non-locals going to tree farms in the Mountains to purchase Christmas trees
- Flatlanders - anyone not from the mountain i.e. from the "flat lands".
- Loma - lots of places named after Loma Prieta; usually used by kids and parents to refer to the Loma Prieta School District or Loma Prieta Elementary
- Low Dirt - a name for the parking area on Summit, just east of 17.
- Road Terminology - a list of common road terms (Valley Surprise, etc.) used to describe locations up in the mountains.
- Summiteen - a name for the parking area on Summit, just east of 17.
- Townies - used to refer to people from town; usually means people from Los Gatos
- The Train - the row of cars going from / to work during commute hours. On Summit Road and San Jose Soquel
- The Villa - Villa Del Monte neighborhood
- Volunteer Fire, VFD, LPFR, or LPVFR - refers to the Loma Prieta Volunteer Fire & Rescue
- The Woods - Summit Woods neighborhood
