The town of Glenwood has it's own Facebook page:  www.facebook.com/groups/townofglenwood.  The history of this area is described in many news articles on Facebook.  The Glenwood Hotel (with swimming pool) was here  around 1900.  Several movies were filmed here in the 1940s and even Alfred Hitchcock lived just off of Glenwood.  For a nice view of the Mt. Charlie tree park at Big Redwood Park and cross the street.  Follow the path on the left about 100 feet to see the tree (and the fallen part)...originally over 280 ft tall.  Known as the "King tree" -- be sure to read the plaque and walk behind it to see the part that fell in the 1989 earthquake..  Also the "Queen tree" is on the path to the right just before you get to the main tree.  (marked with a yellow dot on the Glenwood Drive map.

Does Glenwood have an actual outline we could put on the map, rather than just point? -- jeffp

The point is the exact location of this remaining redwood giant.  Town of Glenwood is really all the folks that live along Glenwood and surrounding roads. We tend to think of the center as the area around the railroad tunnel and the house that says "Pony People".
