Marcus Book Store is the oldest Black bookstore in the country and was named in honor of Pan-African proponent Marcus Garvey. Started in San Francisco by co-owners Julian and Raye Richardson in 1960 as Success Book Store, they expanded into a second location in Oakland in 1970 and changing the name to Marcus Books. There are murals on the side.
